Forelands Visitors Book |
30/08/08 - Excellent place to stay! Comfortable, clean and with all the facilities to make a complete holiday. Seaview Hotel good for well priced food, Ryde Beach good for sandcastles and the Hovercraft useful for a day out in Portsmouth.
26/07/08 - We've had a great time here at Forelands- very peaceful. We have been lucky with the weather and have enjoyed some excellent days out. We recommend Brading Roman Villa and Carisbrooke Castle. Likewise the Dinosaur Isle at Sandown. The Needles Park was also very enjoyable - chairlift to the beach was fun and worth the walk to the Old Battery also. However our favourite days out were at Osborne House and Godshill Model Village. Appley and Puckpool Parks are fun and only a short walk away! Had a brilliant time! Thank you.
28/06/08 - Weather good and cottage good (been here several times). Kids and adults have enjoyed the week and travelled all over the island. Hope to be back again next year.
21/06/08 - Lovely time at Forelands, our third time! Great garden for playing and accommodation spotless. We enjoyed the chairlift at the Needles and the coloured sand. Blackgang Chine is great and you get a free return visit, likewise with Waltzing Waters and Robin Hill.
14/06/08 - Very enjoyable stay at this lovely cottage. Very much enjoyed being so close to the beach. Fortunate to have had such lovely weather! The Model Village at Godshill was great for our 4 year old. Thank you from the grandparents - this lovely week has meant that our 2 little grandchildren who live in America have been able to have a real seaside holiday and the 18 month old thought the downward sloping garden was fantastic for running away with the pushchair!
30/05/08 - A fantastic accommodation set in a peaceful area. Robin Hill is a big recommendation, so is Blackgang Chine (for kids). Smallbrook Stadium Speedway is a fantastic evening visit, Tuesday at 7:30 pm. Calbourne Mill for milling demonstrations at 3:30 pm and going on the pedalos is huge fun. Good eats out are Cinnamon Curry Restaurant in Union Street, Ryde and for great pub grub, try the Horse and Groom, just outside Yarmouth (fantastic kid's menu and bigger kid's menu too). Appley Beach is fantastic too. Thanks for a great stay, Daniel (10), Adam (8) and Anna (5).
9/05/08 - Enjoyed our stay in the island. Forelands cottage very comfortable and clean in a very quiet and peaceful area. Will definitely come back again. Many thanks.
27/04/08 - Glad to be back on the island - all too briefly! The cottage and facilities are excellent. We shall return! All good wishes.
12/04/08 - We have had a lovely holiday! The bungalow is lovely and comfortable as usual and the island is fantastic. Had great weather all week. Thanks.
15/09/07 - Cottage fine (as usual). Weather good all week. Children on the beach and in the sea every day. Travelled all over the island. Very relaxed, before returning to the 'rat-race'.
8/09/07 - Perfect weather, the Isle of Wight always has things to discover. Ryde 'all a busy', Appley always peaceful to come home to.
31/08/07 - Initially here for the Scooter Rally. It was nice to have somewhere to stay where you could do your own thing, i.e.not have to get up for breakfast at set times (helps when you do not get in till 4 a.m.!). We returned home and got the children who enjoyed a great surprise stay on the island. The cottage was well equipped and large enough for a comfortable stay. The parking for two cars is brilliant as had we been in Ryde town itself I have decide we would not have been able to park at all. Thank you.
11/08/07 - Had a great two weeks. Knew what to expect after staying at Benham Lodge last year. Nearby beach great for kids. Robin Hill is worth a visit. Our kids really enjoyed it.
21/07/07 - A very enjoyable holiday. The cottage was well equipped and clean. Thank you for providing the essentials. We found plenty to do in the 2 weeks we were here - especially Osborne House - a good day out! It's great to have such a lovely beach nearby - we even managed to pay a few visits to it - the kids thought it was great.
7/07/07 - We found the cottage very well equipped and clean and tidy. Very enjoyable stay and relaxing place with lots to see and do. The Flamingo Park is well worth a visit and Blackgang Chine is brilliant for the kids.
23/06/07 - We have all enjoyed our holiday - thank you for providing everything we needed. Accommodation is great - will recommend to friends. The beach at Appley is great for shells and the childrens playground.
16/06/07 - Cottage was immaculate and very well equipped. Spacious for a family of four. Garden lovely and nice to be enclosed for children. Weather was mainly lovely - enjoyed the Steam Railway, zoo and definitely recommend Appley Beach and Blackgang Chine - our two year old son doesn't want to go home. Bugle Inn great - play area inside and out - good for young children. Indian 'takeaway' Ryde Tandoori, Union Street - very nice.
2/06/07 - The cottage was very adequate for three generations. Would recommend fish and chips in Monkton Street (Chipmunks) and the Appley Manor Hotel for family dining. As you cannot guarantee the British weather, you can guarantee the welcome at Forelands.
19/05/07 - A very comfortable stay, sad to go home, weather has been much better than expected.
12/05/07 - A great reunion for us all! Lovely cottage, really enjoyed Forelands and the surrounding locales. We all go home, refreshed and relaxed and ready for the family to grow by 2 in October/November. Hope very much to bring the small people here too one day!
13/04/07 - Enjoyable stay, lots to do on the island, lucky to have glorious weather. The children enjoyed the Easter Eggs and cakes and the wine went down well. Our time here has passed quickly and has proved a favourite for all.
6/04/07 - We had a great time here! It was a marvellous and sunny holiday. We loved the bungalow and Ryde Beach.
18/02/07 - We had a very relaxing week. We have family on the island so it has been wonderful being able to visit them every day. We found the cottage to be clean and tidy. We had to get used to the peace and quiet. Thank you for providing a very nice property for us to use.
28/10/06 - We found the bungalow spacious and well equipped. The weather had good days and not so good days, but we managed to find things to do inside and out.
9/09/06 - Have spent the week retrieving toilet roll/crockery/toilet brush/heaters etc. from toddler and dealing with 4 1/2 year old complaining about lack of children's channels and uphill return from beach! With the exception of this, we've really enjoyed our stay - this is our third return to the I.O.W in as many years and we love it. The boys have loved the beach and all the attractions we've visited and we have been blessed with great weather so it's smiles all round from us. Thanks!
26/08/06 - Lovely cottage - very comfortable, clean and well equipped. We all enjoyed the Isle of Wight but there is so much to do we'll need to come back again! Shanklin Old Village is lovely and a walk down the chine to the beach is well worth doing.
19/08/06 - Had a great holiday, we really enjoyed exploring the Isle of Wight.
12/08/06 - Another lovely holiday. Cottage clean and comfortable, neighbours just as friendly as last year. Many thanks.
25/07/06 - A great holiday. Cottage was good - garden excellent for small people - grasshopper hunting a favourite activity! Lots to do within a short distance - Flamingo Park, excellent for all ages (1yr 8mths to 44!). Yaverland is another good close beach. Good family lunches at Yelf's Hotel on Union Street and the Bugle Inn at Brading.
8/07/06 - Had a lovely holiday, thanks.
17/06/06 - Had a wonderful time as we did last year. Hope to come back next year. Thank you for all Home Comforts!
10/06/06 - We enjoyed a wonderful holiday.
3/06/06 - We have had a lovely time staying on the island. The bungalow is very nice. We visited the beach, the Flamingo Park, the Needles and we went on the Swan Boats. We especially enjoyed making sand things at the Needles. We also liked smoothing the penguins at the Flamingo Park. Thank you for providing everything we needed.
22/04/06 - Visitors from Hilden, Germany - We had a really lovely stay here in this nice cottage. We visited our daughter who is staying here on the island for 1 year as an exchange student and we enjoyed as well the island with its different locations; Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle, the Needles, Butterfly World, Flamingo Park and our trip to Portsmouth to see f.ex. the Spinnaker Tower where you have a really nice view over Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. Thank you very much for the nice and tasty Easter Eggs!
8/4/06 - Very well equipped and clean cottage. Lots of little extras to make stay comfortable. Lovely sized garden for football for a 3 year old! We've been really lucky with the weather and managed to see a lot. Old Shanklin village is beautiful. Our favourite attractions have been Waltzing Waters and the Flamingo Park - feeding and stroking the penguins was fantastic!
6/02/06 - A lovely cottage with lots of equipment and plenty of room! Great location for looking for the rest of the island. Recommend Dave the taxi driver from 'Q Cars' Ryde. T.V. and stereo good and all facilities welcomed. See you in 2007!!
13/11/05 - Great location, fabulous cottage - very pleasant stay.
5/11/05 - Fantastic cottage! Clean and tidy - can't fault it! Thanks a lot.
5/10/05 - Our second visit was great - accommodation very comfortable. Thank you.
3/10/05 - (7 visitors from Thailand) - We are so lucky to find such a lovely, homely and well-equipped place like this. It's a really fantastic place for holiday - a very clean, tidy kitchen with every utensil that we need; a warm living room with a nice view of the garden and the very warm beds! Thank you very much for make this place like "our real home"! We all really have a good time in this "Isle of Wight". It will be one of the most memorable holidays ever!
29/10/05 - Nice holiday despite windy, often wet weather. We would recommend a visit to the newly-housed Brading Roman Villa; we were surprised by the impressive facilities and friendly helpful tour guide. Children's activities including dressing-up, great fun. Our best meal out was at Michelangelo's Italian Restaurant (in Ryde) - authentic, delicious but very garlicky!
31/09/05 - Nice bungalow, brilliant place to stay with kids. Especially liked the walk to the beach. Good weather for the time of year. Good breakfasts at Happy Chef in Ryde. Very nice meal at the Bugle Inn in Brading which also has a soft-play area for kids (handy when waiting for food). One of our favourite days out was Blackgang Chine but the food was very over-priced. Think we need to visit I.O.W. for a third time - so much to do and see. Very impressed with the little extras provided - teabags, milk, soap etc, lovely to have beds made-up.
17/09/05 - Spotless kitchen, nice garden (though we didn't have the weather to truly appreciate it). Daniel loved the collection of children's books and felt grown up in a room of his own. We enjoyed exploring the island for the first time - recommend Seaview Wildlife Experience, the Needles and a walk over the sea to Bembridge Lifeboat Station, especially good in a howling gale.
10/09/05 - Have really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is great, we would recommend it to anyone. The island is as lovely as ever. Thanks.
3/09/05 - We have enjoyed staying here while on holiday. The children loved the big garden.

13/08/05 - Cottage lovely, roomy, well equipped, spotlessly clean. Also a lovely garden, very peaceful and friendly neighbours. Thank you, we have been coming to the island for about 30 years and this is one of the nicest places we've stayed.
30/07/05 - Comfortable cottage, enjoyed our stay. Can recommend Amazon World and Flamingo Park at Seaview, very enjoyable. Thanks for the welcome pack, much appreciated.
23/07/05 - Thanks for a lovely stay.
2/07/05 - We mainly came to see the Trafalgar Celebrations and the International Festival of the sea but had a great time on the island. Bembridge, Bonchurch and Ventnor beaches are great for children. Wight Mouse pub in Chale great for kids - indoor soft play centre - parents have drinks!!! Great cottage, excellent equipment, nice shower - much needed after beach trips. Thanks.
25/06/05 - Super cottage, super weather, super holiday enjoyed by one and all. Hope to come again next year. Recommend the Woodman's Arms at Wootton Bridge for great food and friendly atmosphere.
18/06/05 - What a surprise - the people who stayed here last week were also from Crawley! We've had another great week. Weather could have been better, but there are lots of indoor activities and places to visit to keep the children happy (and parents sane!). Cottage is lovely - thoughtfully equipped and well cared for. Thanks.
11/06/05 - Had a wonderful holiday. 1st Class accommodation, everything here that anyone could need, would recommend it to anyone. Thank you for ordering some wonderful weather.
28/05/05 - Thank you for our stay in a lovely clean cottage which catered for all our needs. The garden was great for Charlie (two and a half) and he just loved the bedtime story books - a thoughtful touch. Location great, Appley beach just a short walk a way and perfect for children. Found Ventnor also a good place to visit for a different beach day. Will definitely return.
23/04/05 - A very enjoyable stay in a beautiful island. There are so many things to see and do, we don't want to go back! A very pleasant cottage which really contains everything we need. We will definitely come back....
Thank you for a lovely stay. We have really enjoyed your cottage. Everything was clean and all the things we needed were here. Good luck with renting it to as many people as possible.
02/04/05 - A great time staying at the cottage. We found it very comfortable, we felt like we were at home. Thank you for the milk and tea bags and other accessories we found them very helpful! Recommend the
Tiger Sanctuary in Sandown, if you are a tiger-lover you should visit. A lovely sandy beach at Ryde, the children loved it loads. Thank you very much.
Waltzing waters a much enjoyed and relaxing show! Thanks for repairing the shower so quickly, much needed after a great day at Blackgang Chine. All had a great time. Thanks (will be back next year).
30/10/04 - Very nice, clean cottage. Well equipped and much appreciated. Would recommend lunch at Arreton Barns, very generously sized meals. Hope to come back soon to do all the things we couldn't get done because we ran out of time!
23/10/04 - We've been visiting the I.O.W. for approx 25 years and stayed at various places. Forelands is a comfortable and well equipped cottage. We've had a very nice weeks holiday on the island. Recommend walking from Bonchurch seafront via Ventnor (lunch at the Spyglass Inn) then over the cliffs to Steephill Cove (and back again)!
25/09/04 - Comfortable and well situated accommodation. I.O.W. is certainly a very pleasant and interesting place for a holiday. 'Season' ticket for leisure activities a good buy!
18/09/04 - After 18 years since our last visit to I.O.W. we have had a thoroughly enjoyable week in this homely cottage. The weather has been kind to us and the youngsters have thoroughly enjoyed the garden and various beaches across the island. Thank you from all the Whitleys.
4/09/04 - A fabulous time on the Isle of Wight,
Our comfy cottage, so clean and bright,
Sun every day and so much to do -
Three generations say "THANK YOU"!!
28/08/04 - We have had a lovely base to return to and dry out, after our very wet two weeks here. Luckily we found lots of indoor things to do! We would recommend the Crab and Lobster at Bembridge and the New Inn at Shalfleet as two good places to eat. Thank you.
14/08/04 - We all enjoyed our second (two week) visit to Appley Farm. Everything as we expected. The children loved the beach and Robin Hill and the oldies Calbourne Mill. Many thanks.
31//07/04 - Excellent accommodation. Fully equipped, clean and comfortable. Having tea and milk waiting was really welcome. Excellent beaches nearby. Vineyards are worth a visit, we thought 'Rosemarys' was the best.
24/07/04 - We found the cottage very clean and well equipped - many thanks. The children loved the garden - a very enjoyable holiday all round.
17/07/04 - We have had a lovely holiday. Everyone loved the cottage (might be back in 2006). So much to do, not enough time to do it all. Thank you from all of us.
10/07/04 - We all love the cottage and have been very comfortable. We really have appreciated how clean it is and have found everything we have needed. We recommend the Beijing Palace - fantastic food - both take-away and the restaurant are excellent. The cafe at the bottom of the hill by the beach is very friendly! Ryde Beach is very sandy and lovely for the children. Godshill - lovely gift-shops and the tearooms and model village good for children. Waltzing Waters (by Tescos) is also great value for the children. Although there are loads of great attractions for children, we found loads to do without having to fall back on them. The beaches are great for shell-seeking and we went crabbing at Bembridge - we have had a great week.
2/07/04 - Wonderful cottage, it was wonderful to have made-up beds on arrival. Very clean - C.D. player good idea. We enjoyed our holiday very much - not enough time to see everything in one week. We will definitely come back. Best place Osborne House, Ryde Esplanade. Yes, Bugle Inn Curry Night on Fridays excellent. Thank you for tea-bags and milk on arrival. Very well thought out and equipped cottage. Wetherspoons also good. Most places we tried were good. Appley Manor reasonable prices and good food. People friendly. Very peaceful.
22/6/04 - Very very nice cottage, beds were comfy and the whole place felt very warming. We had a brilliant stay and really enjoyed our holiday, especially at Robin Hill! Thanks for the CD player as well, we enjoyed it! Thanks a million! Natalie.
Great cottage. Beds v. comfy!! Thanks for a great stay. I'd definitely come again! Kelly-Ann.
19/06/04 - We've had a brilliant week here - weather has been great, the Island is really beautiful and there has been loads for the children to do (a week wasn't long enough). The cottage was really thoughtfully equipped - having tea and milk on arrival was really appreciated - as were the flowers! The neighbours were very friendly too! Thanks very much!
5/06/04 - Well equipped cottage. We had a fantastic week - thank you. Recommend a day out at Robin Hill for the children - you get a free pass to return within 4 days - so we did! The beach at Ryde is also great for the children, a clean beach where the tide goes out for miles(!!) and only a short walk down the lane. An excellent holiday and cottage with plenty to do. Thanks again.

We all had an excellent time in the Isle of Wight. We came down to see our cousins and Auntie and everybody loved the accommodation. We loved all the shops in Ryde and the Fair. We went canoeing and got soaking wet. Thank you for the very enjoyable Easter Eggs and cakes. The bottle of wine went down well. P.S. there is a pattern on the bed from me. Lots of love Jade.
Well you certainly made our stay enjoyable with the standard of accommodation. Phil.
10/04/04 - The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. Our favourite visit was Osborne House - walking to Ryde kept us fit.
1/11/03 - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your very welcoming and well equipped accommodation. A joy to return to at the end of every 'action packed' day. A beautiful place to relax.
27/9/03 - A must see is the Botanic Gardens at Ventnor (more to see than you expect). If you end up in Cowes, don't go east! Go west and find the Woodvale Hotel for a good meal. The Spyglass Inn at Ventnor for excellent real ales and good eating. Curry night (Friday) at the Bugle Inn (just down the road). Plenty of good walking - thanks for providing the information and comfortable accommodation.
13/9/03 - We found everything we (4 OAPs) needed to have a very enjoyable stay in the pleasant bungalow. The sun continued to shine and we were able to revisit all the places we had as memories from previous visits to the IOW. Thank you very much and all best wishes for the future.
30/8/03 - Wow - what a beautiful cottage. Very spacious and homely - hope to come back soon. Had a lovely week, even though the rain came on Friday, it didn't spoil our visit. The T.V. and C.D. player were a god-send for the kids and the garden was lovely. Thank you both for letting us stay in such a beautiful cottage, that's near to the beach (the torch was well used up the lane at night)!! See you in 2004 - hopefully. You've done a great job - keep it up!!

12/7/03 - We've had a fantastic week in a lovely clean and tidy cottage, which we've found to be ideally situated. The weather couldn't have been better. The food at the 'Red Lion' in Freshwater is to be recommended, as well as the breakfasts at the cafe on the seafront in Ryde. Molly, 4 1/2 months loved her cot and slept really well all week!!

Grandpa enjoyed the open-top bus, and the trip on the Steam Train with all the family. A well-appointed cottage - we were very comfortable.
31/5/03 - First trip to IOW for most - pleasantly surprised! Great weather, lovely beach. We loved the Flamingo Park, the Dotto train and Peter Pan's Fairground - but best of all was the Bungee Trampolining - excellent fun, lots of adrenalin, a few bruises on the arms, but overall impression "Absolutely Fabulous"! We all had a go - Amy 2, Ella 4 and Mummy 36!
p.s. Good cheap food at "la Croute" on Union Street - 99p breakfast! Fed 4 of us for lunch for £12! Also recommend the cafe at the bottom of lane for beach lunches.26/4/03 - We have really enjoyed our holiday, the cottage is really lovely.
