Places to visit when wet - Butterfly World, Dinosaur Isle and Amazon World (mostly indoors) and a really good day out.  Arreton Barns - lots of old fashioned shops (lots to buy!!).  When dry Robin Hill is great but many rides closed when wet.  the Needles are brilliant.  Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.  Thank you.

14/06/08 - Thank you for such a lovely week here again.  It couldn't be better!  Weather wonderful too.

6/06/08 - Another very enjoyable week.  We hope to come again next year.  Beer at Wetherspoons not so good this year but the Yarbridge Inn near Brading more than made up for it.  Superb beers and door to door bus service.

24/08/07 - We too have really appeciated the cottage.   Thank you for all the extras!   We had a lovely holiday (apart from the weather).   Botanical Gardens at Ventnor are brilliant!

17/08/07 - It has been a pleasure to stay in such a clean and well equipped property.   We usually stay in Sandown but have all enjoyed staying at Ryde and being so close to Appley Beach.   We visited the kid's favourite places - Blackgang Chine and Robin Hill.  We even took them on the Hovercraft which they thoroughly enjoyed.  We all loved our stay in Benham Lodge.  Thanks.

10/08/07 - Lovely place to stay.   Great to find main essentials i.e. loo rolls!! and tea bags - thanks.  Frequent visitors to the island - great to be so near to Appley Beach, one of our favourites.

31/07/07 - We have had a lovely weeks holiday helped by coming 'home' to our comfortable accommodation.  Very clean, tidy and welcoming with the tea, milk and flowers in the kitchen,  Ideal base to discover the Island.   Recommend The Needles Battery and Sandown Sands.  Definitely recommend you to friends and family and wish to return.  Weather perfect which helped our stay.  Very lovely.  Thank you again.

13/07/07 - Very clean cottage...thanks.  We would recommend Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle, I.O.W. Zoo and Flamingo Park.  To eat - Dairymans Daughter at Arreton Barns and the Kings Head at Yarmouth.   Tesco very handy - turn left out of the gates and 2 minutes by car down the road.   Local beach lovely - also Shanklin Beach.

29/06/07 - This is our 2nd stay and Sarah and Rebecca are already asking to come back next year!   We had awful weather for mid June but we still had an excellent time, which just goes to show how good the place actually is.  This cottage is perfect for us and Bruce and Kathy are very thoughtful in providing little essentials.  Thank you so much - see you next year if the girls get their way.

8/06/07 - Clean, comfortable and very well equipped.  Really enjoyed our stay and were lucky with the weather!  Thank you for the little extras, i.e. teabags, milk, washing-up liquid etc..

1/06/07 - Enjoyed the stay.   All the kitchen essentials there on arrival, beds comfortable, house very clean - thanks for the milk and tea at start.  In the wet for children - Bugle Inn (Brading), Jolly Rogers (Sandown), Steam Railway (Havenstreet) and Ryde Castle - good ice cream.

11/05/07 - Really enjoyed our stay.  Lovely cottage and great location. Our favourite trips were to Blackgang Chine, Amazon World and the Steam Railway.  The Wishing Well is a great family pub close by. Would definitely return to Benham Lodge!

4/05/07 - Thank you for providing such lovely accommodation again (our 4th stay).

20/04/07 - Lovely clean place, fantastic location, very nice place, just right for sight seeing, very nice weather all week.  Hope to come again sometime.  Thank you.

8/04/07 - Had a wonderful break.  Cottage is idylic and very comfortable.  Thank you for the Easter presents.  Didn't last on my run - too many hills!!! Weather gorgeous too.  Took two days to discover we had a garden!  Many thanks.

6/04/07 - Lovely cottage - clean and well found.  Weather rather chilly but sunny.

19/03/07 - We enjoyed our trip to IOW to help our son move into his new house.  Cottage ideal for us and the weather perfect, sunny every day just like home in Florida.

9/03/07 - The location of the cottage was great and the things like soap, washing-up liquid and milk were much appreciated.  We were lucky with the weather and crammed a lot into our week here.  The lobster at the Spyglass Inn at Ventnor was delicious and riding on the beach has got to be my highlight!   We couldn't believe how much this tiny island has to offer, had a fab holiday!!

24/11/06 - Cottage fine for two disabled folks.  Tesco - on up the A3055 at Westridge - good for parking, newspapers, shopping and recycling.  Enjoyed the South and West of the island for best views - best meal at the Pond Cafe, Bonchurch.  Osborne House well worth the visit.

27/09/06 - Had a lovely week, weather was great.  Comfortable cottage.  Thanks for the goodies and the cleaning things.

22/09/06 - Another lovely holiday. Thanks for the new TV.

15/09/06 - Especially enjoyed the Needles Battery, Carisbrooke Castle, Mottistone (wonderful gardens) the Botanic Gardens and walking the Southern Coastal Path against a gale!  Especial treat is the dress shop in Ryde - Earth Connection - we indulged.  Thank you for such a pleasant and well equipped cottage.

7/09/06 - Most enjoyable holiday.  A pleasure to stay in the 'Lodge'.

25/08/06 - We've had a lovely holiday in a comfortable, very clean cottage.  Puckpool Beach brilliant!

11/08/06 - A most enjoyable stay in a comfortable and inviting cottage.

4/08/06 - Had a great time.  Kids loved the nearby beach and chasing the seagulls.  Great location, pity we only booked a week.  Thanks.

28/0706 - Thank you for such pleasant accommodation - clean, comfortable and well-equipped.  A most enjoyable holiday.

21/07/06 - This was a lovely holiday and our first trip to the Isle.  Loved the Roman Villa complex and the children enjoyed the activities.  Ryde Beach was the one we always went back to.  Plenty of National Trust and English Heritage sites.  Good accommodation - very handy supply of kitchen essentials too!  Great central location for supermarkets etc..  We were here for the heatwave and we'll never forget the glorious weather!  Benham Lodge was clean and welcoming!

14/07/06 - Have all had a wonderful week here.  The cottage is perfect, especially if you have young children - all on one level and no ornaments around for them to break!  Cannot fault the house at all!!  Beds comfortable and also the cot!  Thank you for the welcome pack - milk, tea, loo-rolls and washing-up liquid.  Visited Flamingo Park which was excellent, both children loved it!  Appley Beach EVERY DAY - a lovely beach - found a little playground up past the loos on the beach.  Our only disappointment was Blackgang Chine - lots to look at but if it's rides you want - there are only 3 and children must be over 1.1 metres. However the view from there is breathtaking!  The week has gone far too quickly - hope to be back next year!  Thank you - will recommend to all our friends and family!

7/07/06 - Lovely clean cottage, nice touches with the welcome pack!  Brilliant weather which helped!  Recommend going to Butterfly World, Brading Experience and Godshill which is a lovely village, Beijing Palace, Ryde Castle (v. posh) and Dos Amigos (try the Dinosaur Bones Challenge!).

30/06/06 - We loved Benham Lodge, such a lovely base for our holiday.  Thank you for the milk, teabags etc, such little extras make all the difference.  Our 3rd visit to the island but we found lots of places we'd never been to.  Seaview is beautiful and driving around the island you come to lots of lovely villages and places 'off the beaten track'.  Appley Beach in Ryde is fantastic, we were lucky enough to have some hot sunny days.  Eating out places we can recommend are the Beijing Palace in Ryde - the food and atmosphere there are wonderful.  Also Joe Daflo's cafe and restaurant on Union Street in Ryde - again great food and ambience.  Thank you again for the cottage - we will recommend it to friends and family.

22/06/06 - It's our second stay in Benham Lodge and I'm sure it won't be our last.  We love the area and is perfect for getting to everywhere else on the island.  We have had a really good week for weather - no rain at all!  We recommend Blackgang Chine, Robin Hill and Coleman's Farm for the little ones - Ellie hasn't had so much fun in a week.  The beach in Ryde is so lovely especially as it is a 5 minute walk from the cottage.  Butterfly World is a favourite for me and Rosemary's Vineyard was a favourite for my husband.  The cottage was lovely and clean when we arrived and all the little extras were much appreciated, so thank you very much.

16/06/06 - Another splendid holiday here.  Very comfy and beautifully equiped, as last year.  Thank you for your kindness.

9/06/06 - Lovely cottage - very comfortable - ideal for 10 minute walk to beach and within easy reach of all attractions.  The weather was absolutely perfect - hope it continues.

3/06/06 - Very cosy - shame about the weather!

26/05/06 - Our 2nd stay here in Benham Lodge, rained every day but still enjoyable.  Cottage cosy to sit, relax and read when too wet to go out.   Brickfield Horses fantastic, I.O.W. Zoo great, beautiful white tiger.  Went to Newport, had a lovely meal and a smashing cappucino, friendly service at Hogs Head.  Took the wrong turning out of Newport, saw some lovely villages and came across Calbourne.  Stopped at the water mill, lovely place, cream teas etc..  The best places are often found accidently.

4/05/06 - As soon as I saw the yellow begonia through the kitchen window I knew we'd chosen well.  It has been a pleasure to stay here, everything has been so well thought out and preparing meals was a joy.  I love the pink and purple planting in the garden - it is so peaceful here - I wonder what it was like as a hen house?!   The Crab and Lobster at Bembridge is wonderful.

5/04/06 - Great place to stay. Well equipped.  Loved the walks on the seafront and the bird hide and reserve at Springvale.

1/04/06 - We've had such a fabulous holiday at the Isle of Wight.  We've had great weather for going on the beaches.  I even had a paddle!  It was a lovely time - thank you!

26/10/05 - Lovely peaceful cottage in perfect location for beach.  Really enjoyed Dinosaur Isle, Amazon World and Seaview Wildlife Encounter - kids enjoyed penguin feeding time and flamingoes.  Tesco's handy for socks and DVD player!  Thank you for the extra bits, it makes a big difference to have a washing machine and washing-up liquid etc..  A great visit in all despite the weather!

21/10/05 - Enjoyed our week at Benham Lodge, found it ideally furnished and situated in a great location on the island.  Drove around all the island and enjoyed some lovely lunches in pubs around the island.  Enjoyed taking in all the scenery whilst driving around the island and drove through some lovely villages (especially Shanklin Old Village).  Will be visiting the island again in the future.

7/10/05 - We really enjoyed our stay at Benham Lodge, it's a lovely cottage.

2/10/05 - Splendid accommodation, well equipped and spotlessly clean.  Excellent location from which to explore the island.

25/09/05 - A lovely holiday in a lovely cottage - hired mountain bikes from TAV Cycles in town and had great fun exploring the bridleways.  Saw red squirrels in Parkhurst Forest and walked for miles with breathtaking scenery.

16/09/05 - Everything we needed - we all love the Isle of Wight now.

9/09/05 - This is a lovely cottage, with good facilities in a good location.  Enjoyed the island very much, especially Ventnor Botanic Gardens, Brighstone, Osborne House and Morton Manor.  Michelangelo Restaurant has good food and good value and the Seaview Hotel restaurant is excellent for a special meal.

2/09/05 - A lovely week, weather beautiful!  Visited lots of the islands attractions - Blackgang Chine - always a favourite for the children.  This is our second stay here, stayed at Forelands last year as there were more of us.  Both clean, comfortable and very well equipped.  Would always return and recommend to family and friends.  Thank you.

26/08/05 - Had a wonderful time.  Blackgang Chine was absolutely brilliant for children.  The cottage was perfect and had everything we needed.  Appley beach was lovely and quiet.  Isle of Wight Zoo was brill if you like big cats.  The supplies left in the cottage were much appreciated, very nice.  Brading Waxworks is a good day out when the weather is against you.  Very nice time overall, we will be coming back.

19/08/05 - Thank you for a lovely holiday.  The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable.  The toilet-roll, washing-up liquid etc. was much appreciated.  Our children enjoyed the visit to Blackgang Chine.  Benham Lodge is in a good location to explore the island.

5/08/05 - Thank you for our clean and comfortable accommodation which served as a good base for our holiday.  Those little extras that are lacking in other places were readily supplied (washing-up liquid etc.) making my own redundant!!  Hannah (three and a half) really enjoyed Blackgang Chine and also the pony ride at Brickfields.

29/0705 - Thank you for the lovely stay we had here.  The cottage was very welcoming and wonderfully clean on arrival - which made for instant relaxation.  After exploring the island we came to the conclusion that we were in the best place.  It was a pleasure to come home to each day and out of all the attractions we all agreed (even the boys aged 6 & 7), that the short walk down to Appley Beach to play on the sand was one of the best.  We also loved Shanklin Chine/beach and Seaview for the rock pooling.  The Butterfly World is great on a chilly, rainy day and the Beijing Palace does an outsanding Chinese (though quite costly).  Thank you once again....we will be back!!

22/07/05 - We have had a very happy time here.  The cottage has been a good base for us to explore the Island.  The weather has been lovely so we have enjoyed the beaches - particularly Bembridge, Appley, Yaverland and Ventnor.  The children have enjoyed Robin Hill and Blackgang Chine and Osborne House was interesting.  Thank you for equipping the cottage so well, we have had a great time.

15/07/05 - Spotlessly clean, lovely accommodation.  Great beach for the kids.  Wonderful.

1/07/05 - We have had a marvelous time here.  Benham Lodge is perfect and the supplies left for us were a lovely surprise and very welcome.  A big 'thank you' to Kathy and Bruce.  We shall be back next year and please can you arrange for another Trafalgar Day!

17/06/05 - Excellent cottage with ideal location to enjoy walking the coastal path.  Weather has been warm and sunny - ideal walking weather.  Of all the holiday towns on the island we consider Ryde to be the best.

10/06/05 - Thanks so much for all the thoughtful touches - washing-up liquid, soap, tea-bags, milk etc..  They were all very much appreciated.  We have left a replacement map in the box as the original became rather battered as Morgan (age 4) tried to use it to navigate while Daddy was driving!
We had great plans to visit various attractions but spent most of our time at the beach due to lovely weather!  The cottage is wonderfully situated for the pushchair friendly beach at Appley/Ryde.  Thanks!

3/06/05 - Our second stay (Forelands last year).  An enjoyable stay yet again.  Weather on our side most of the week.  The children enjoyed Blackgang Chine and Robin Hill (and the free return visits).  Ryde/Appley Beach very clean and nice golden sand for the children.  Good food at the Bugle Inn (Brading) with an outdoor play area.  Thanks for the nice clean cottage and extras.  No doubt we will be back again.

27/05/05 - Our first stay here and we thought the cottage was wonderful, home from home.  Spotlessly clean and comfortable.  Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

20/05/05 - Our 2nd stay - clean and comfortable as ever.  The walk from Bonchurch to Ventnor along the sea wall well worth it, to finish up with a lovely meal at the Spyglass Inn.  Weather was from thermal to sun cream, very changeable.

13/05/05 - Our 3rd stay - always v.comfortable and pleasant.  Thanks for all the 'little extras' - much needed and appreciated on arrival.

6/05/05 - Thanks for a very enjoyable stay in your comfortable cottage.  Very well situated for non-drivers like us who rely on the bus service!

10/04/05 - Very nice island, enjoyed our stay very much.

3/04/05 - We had a lovely time, we found Benham Lodge ideal, Joseph appreciated the cot and high chair very much and Mike was glad for the milk for a cuppa when we got here.  Thanks very much to Kathy and Bruce, I'm sure we will be back.  We would recommend the local pool - very warm!

28/03/05 - We've had a wonderful Easter break - including warm and sunny weather. Benham Lodge has been cosy, comfortable and an ideal base.  The children were delighted by the Easter extras - many thanks!

4/02/05 - The Lodge has been everything we hoped it would be.  We have enjoyed visiting many of the island's attractions including Amazon World, Alum Bay, Parkhurst Forest, Shanklin and Ryde.  A wonderful pub to visit and eat a home cooked meal(inc 9 veg)is the White Hart at Havenstreet - we have been there many times in the past and it is always a fantastic meal.  We would love to stay here again and will recommend the Lodge to all those back home - thank you.

30/01/05 - Benham Lodge was beautifully clean and comfortable - really enjoyed a rather cold weekend. Erin(two and a half) was surprisingly well behaved!  Ventnor Botanical Gardens - very nice, enjoyed Carisbrooke Castle and ventured down the steps to the beach at the Needles - thanks very much.

26/11/04 - An ideal base from which to explore the island, we had a very pleasant week.  The Snooty Fox at Brading serves very good food!  Crusoe's at Colwell Bay serves tea with a wonderful view.

1/10/04 - Quiet, comfortable and relaxing.  Well-situated for a variety of sea-front walks.  Can highly recommend the 'Snooty Fox' restaurant at Brading for superb meals.  Many thanks for the 'supplies' which guaranteed that 'welcome' feeling!  Would recommend this cottage to anyone.

17/09/04 - A very pleasant cottage - an ideal base to explore the island.  Can particularly recommend Alum Bay and the Needles, the Steam Railway, the Model Village at Godshill and the beach at Shanklin.  If you want a good Chinese take-away, try the Beijing Palace in Ryde.

10/09/04 - Excellent 'holiday home' and base for touring the island.  Superb beach (easily accessable) and amenities for a young family.  Enjoyed Ryde Carnival and many attractions that the Isle of Wight has to offer.  We are sure to return.

3/09/04 - Lovely clean place.  Amazed by the Bank Holiday Scooter Rally.  Bit noisy - but fun.  After that, very peaceful.  Try the Botanical Gardens at Ventnor.  Good fishing at Freshwater - if you like wrasse.  Have a look at Puckpool - very nice.  Lovely holiday.

27/08/04 - Thank you for a lovely holiday!  The cottage was spotlessly clean and well-equipped and we appreciated the household supplies.

13/08/04 - The cottage is lovely, very clean, well equipped and peaceful, with lots of nice touches.   Would recommend the following for families with young children:- Blackgang Chine, Arreton Manor, White Lion Pub at Arreton (very family friendly), Carisbrooke Castle, Godshill Model Village, Needles Battery and Alum Bay.  We will be recommending 'Benham Lodge' to our family and friends.  Thank you to Kathy and Bruce for making us feel welcome.

6/08/04 -A very pleasant stay.  Lovely cottage, owners very generous with the 'supplies'.  Beds and chairs very comfortable.  Recommended places:- Arreton Manor, interesting, Arreton Barns - very good and the Dairyman's Daughter - best place to eat (we tried a lot!).  Excellent food, large portions, good children's menu.  Trip to Portsmouth Naval Museum a good day out.  Take a 'Fast Cat' (Tickets at the Bus Station) from Ryde.  Don't miss 'Action Stations'.  Open Top bus tour from Yarmouth very good.   Newport Ghost Walk great fun.

23/07/04 - Just what family holidays are made of - fantastic location, no need for the car and far enough away from the slot machines.   Hope to return.  Thank you.

25/06/04 - A very pleasant stay in a well equipped cottage.

18/06/04 - We had a great week.  The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed - would definitely come again.  We had excellent weather all week.  Lots to do, but so little time to do everything.  We recommend 'Waltzing Waters' (even baby Ellie at 4 months sat through the whole 40 minutes glued to the stage!), Oasis is a brilliant little gift shop.  Make a visit to the Butterfly World, the 'jumping jets' there are really fascinating.  Newport is the best town for shopping.  Ryde is the perfect place to be based to get to easy reach of all the best things.  Even the beach is only a few minutes walk away.  Thanks to the owners for all the extras (i.e. flowers tea-bags, milk etc) and for the check-up to see if we were OK.

21/05/04 - Cottage excellent.  Weather excellent.  Golf excellent at Sandown and Shanklin.   Hope to come back and see how the 'project' turns out.

16/04/04 - A lovely holiday break in a beautiful, clean and homely cottage.  Highly recommended - the New Inn at Shalfleet, the Crown Inn at Shorwell and the Fishbourne Inn.  Also thanks for the Easter goodies.  Hope to come again sometime.

9/04/04 - A lovely break at a homely, well equipped place that truly felt like a home from home.   We wanted for nothing and the children enjoyed the garden space.   The best place to visit we felt for our children (two and a half and four and a half) were Robin Hill and Blackgang Chine - lots of fun - we will definitely be back.  Forgot to mention the Flamingo Park which is great for young children and the Crown Inn at Shorwell a fabulous place to eat with or without children.

26/03/04 - Immaculate and well equipped cottage in quiet location, handy for good beach and parks.  Made good base for exploring the island, though please note, Smallbrook Junction (Steam Railway) is not accessable by road or footpath - only by rail.

13/3/04 - Good, quiet, restful stay in comfortable cottage - thanks.

2/1/04 - Very nice break.  Appley Manor Hotel very nice place to spend New Years Eve.

27/12/03 - The very best place for our Christmas pied-a-terre.  Particular thanks for the welcome and seasonal goodies, which set just the right mood from the outset.

1/11/03 - We have had a lovely week and thank you for the homely, well-equipped and ideally located cottage.  Berenice (age 6) loved the Butterfly World and Blackgang Chine.  The whole family also recommend many beaches (especially Appley, Shanklin and Alum Bay), donkeys at Carisbrooke Castle, travelling on the train and glorious sunshine for most of the week.

9/10/03 - Lots to do on the island - too much for such a short trip so we're planning to return!  (Baby Ellen has found the sea breezes a bit chilly though!)  Cottage very clean (always a worry with babies) and well-equipped - we appreciated the little 'extras' - milk, soap, tea-bags, tinfoil, washing-up liquid, etc. - and the friendly and amenable attitude of the owners.  Thank you.  P.S. Ellen loved Flamingo Park and petting the wallabies and guinea pigs!

4/10/03 - Very enjoyable and comfortable holiday in a beautifully clean and well equipped cottage.

27/9/03 - Lovely cottage - very cosy.  Osborne House well worth a visit.  Afton Gardens, Apple Orchard do the best B.L.T. sandwich on the island.

20/9/03 - Enjoyed the island, enjoyed the sunny weather and the comfortable cottage.  Thanks to the welcoming and caring from the owners.

13/9/03 - Had a lovely holiday in a very well appointed cottage.  We have enjoyed being able to sit in the garden, as we don't have that privelege at home.  Hope to come again.

6/9/03 - Excellent accommodation, very clean and well equipped - tea bags, soap and toilet roll were lovely touches and very much appreciated.  We will recommend this cottage to friends and family.

23/8/03 - Had a wonderful holiday.  Cottage had some nice home comforts (washing machine).  Would love to come back.  We fell in love with Bembridge.  Thanks for a comfortable stay.

16/8/03 - Ten minute walk to the most beautiful sandy beach at Ryde.  Sunshine every day (35degC on Monday!), hence most days spent on the beach.  Went to Osborne House, donkey sanctuary, Shanklin Chine, Cowes, Needles Battery and mackerel fishing.  Can recommend "The Fishbourne Inn" for good food.

9/8/03 - Had a very nice holiday with wall-to-wall sunshine.  Nice cottage, Puckpool Park/beach ideal for kids.  Thanks for rescuing Ryan from the bathroom!

2/8/03 - Excellent accommodation.  Ideal location to get to all the attractions. Beautiful scenery.  Lovely time was had by all.  Thank you.

26/7/03 - We have had a wonderful time.  Weather good until Friday, lots to do and see - not managed to do it all, so that means we will have to come back again!  The cottage was clean and cosy, we settled in well.  The owners were very friendly - thank you.

19/7/03 - Very comfortable stay, thank you.  Small personal touches made it easy to feel settled very quickly.  Would like to come back and stay again.

12/7/03 - Well worth a visit - Blackgang Chine and Robin Hill St. Helens for a nice quiet beach.

Recommended restaurants for families with children - Appley Manor Ryde, both the Bugle Inn (Brading) and Caulkheads (Sandown) have indoor and outdoor play areas.  Very good location to tour the island.  Enjoyed our stay!

5/7/03 - Had a lovely time.  Cottage well equipped, clean and comfortable.

21/6/03 - Accommodation very clean and comfortable - an ideal base for our holiday.  Thank you, would stay here again.

14/6/03 - Ideal, very comfortable and quiet.  We didn't want to leave.  Impressed with the accommodation and the island - would love to return.

7/6/03 - Very nice accommodation, well equipped with everything we needed.  Thank you very much, we hope to come again.

31/5/03 - Beautiful location, well furnished, clean and bright.  Nice short walk to clean beach.  Friendly neighbourhood.  Excellent base for touring the island.  Warning: Parkhurst Forest - very few signs, no facilities - it's big and you can easily get disorientated when looking for red squirrels!  Highlights: best beach - Ryde to Puckpool; Osborne House; Carisbrooke Castle; Ventnor Botanic Gardens; Steephill Cove.

26/4/03 - Nicely furnished - well located.  Enjoyed the walks and views.
